The article continued with the following statement...

""Although we have been aware of these problems over the years, they have been swept under the mat without any genuine effort to tackle them," Commodore Bainimarama said.

This shows that the Pm is talking about the problem that the country is facing since long....

The peoples charter has been formed to taclke such vulnerable issues, which LG government had put aside to warm up their individual pockets.

Come on... at least try to put some sensible comments, rather than pissing on ya own self.....

Losing vacation time to bankruptcy

Baltimoresun.com's tax-advice column features three experts from the Hunt Valley accounting firm SC&H Group answering questions about preparing your return every Monday until April 17. To be included in the following weeks, please use the form at the right side of this page to submit your questions.

Barbara Smith, Baltimore: I worked for a company that filed for bankruptcy. When they filed, they owed me 20 days of vacation. I filed as a creditor on the bankruptcy. I have been notified by the court that the 10 years is up and the company never came out of bankruptcy. Can I claim this as a loss, as the debt will never be paid?

SC&H Group: Individual taxpayers file on the cash basis method of accounting. Since you did not include any of the accrued vacation in your income in previous years, you do not get a bad debt or other deduction for the lost income.

US: Texas mayor resigns over allegations she stole neighbor's dog ...

A small-town mayor accused of secretly keeping her neighbors' dog after telling them the pet died has resigned, and a judge is set to decide custody of the Shih Tzu. Grace Saenz-Lopez apologized Friday to Alice residents and said she believed her actions were in the dog's best interest. "I am sorry for the division that the events of these last few weeks have caused," Saenz-Lopez wrote in her resignation letter. "It was never my intention to bring any negative exposure to our city." A custody hearing Monday is expected to decide who gets Puddles, who Saenz-Lopez renamed "Panchito" after taking the dog last summer. A neighboring family accuses Saenz-Lopez of refusing to return the dog after leaving it in her care while they went on vacation. A day after her neighbors left, Saenz-Lopez called to tell them Puddles had died.

Expert warns power crisis threatens growth target but govt says 'no ...

Econometrix economist Dr Azar Jammine on Thursday said that the power shortage would inhibit foreign investment, preventing government from reaching its targeted 6% yearly economic growth from 2010 onwards. Minister of Minerals and Energy Buyelwa Sonjica, however, appeared less worried about the potential effects of Eskom's now nonexistent supply margins on potential investments. "There is no need to panic about future investments, as has been alluded to by some," said the Sonjica, in an emailed statement. But, just prior to receiving the statement, Jammine told Engineering News Online that the power crunch would significantly affect foreign investment. "It will be restrictive to growth," he stated. "Sufficiently enough to prevent government of attaining its goals of a 6% growth rate from 2010."

Analysts at Frost & Sullivan held a similar view.
