| Scion of a showbiz family hits the big time with 'Little Sheba'
Always a precocious reader, Zoe Kazan was 9 or 10 when she pulled a copy of William Inge's "Four Plays" from a bookshelf at home and asked her mother if the play "Come Back, Little Sheba" was appropriate reading for her. "She told me it was about a woman who loses her dog," Kazan recalls with a chuckle. "That sounded okay. I always got a kick out of reading things that were ahead of my grade level." The book became one of her favorites, eventually traveling with her to Yale and then to her apartment when she moved to New York. And now Kazan, 24, finds herself in the Broadway production of "Sheba," playing Marie, the college student whose youthful sexuality triggers the crisis at the center of the play. "Inge was so good at painting what it's like to be a young girl," Kazan says, tucked into a chair in the lounge of the Biltmore Theater.
Official Version of Naval Incident Starts to Unravel
Israelis and their allies in the US administration do not tolerate obstacles - including patriotic US Naval officials who expose their hoaxes. There are a few clear heads remaining in the upper eschelons of the US Armed Forces which have managed to escape the earlier purges of the Rumsfeld-OSP-Wolfowitz-Feith cabal. Admiral Fallon and other like-minded American officers should have their drivers check their cars before starting the engines - the mafia that took us to war in Iraq and is pushing for war with Iran can get very rough. It is disgusting to have this played out again and again and again. They will never be satisfied until they have destroyed all independent nations in the Middle East using American manpower and treasure - and destroying the US economy and Bill of Rights in the process.
News Briefs
Opponents of a proposed golf course between Second Hill and Taylor Road and a power plant on Route 7 urged the New Milford Town Council Monday night to prepare for a battle against both plans. The Democratic Town Committee, a neighborhood group and several residents asked the council to consider buying the reservoir property that the water company wants to convert into a golf course and housing development. "To turn this lose-lose situation into a win-win situation, we should acquire those parcels and turn them into protected open space," said resident Patricia Greenspan. Roger Moretz of Common Cents told the council the town should act quickly to secure state funds that are available for purchases of water company lands. Patricia McRae of Taylor Road spoke in favor of the golf course project, telling the council, "Here's a company willing to invest $7.5 million in New Milford," and saying that some of the concerns about environmental contamination are unfounded.
Stock Upgrades, Downgrades from TheStreet.com Ratings
Each business day, TheStreet.com Ratings updates its ratings on the stocks it covers. The proprietary ratings model projects a stock's total return potential over a 12-month period, including both price appreciation and dividends. Buy, hold or sell ratings designate how the Ratings group expects these stocks to perform against a general benchmark of the equities market and interest rates. While the ratings model is quantitative, it uses both subjective and objective elements. For instance, subjective elements include expected equities market returns, future interest rates, implied industry outlook and company earnings forecasts. Objective elements include volatility of past operating revenue, financial strength and company cash flows. However, the rating does not incorporate all of the factors that can alter a stock's performance.
Presidential Election 2008
And indeed, parts of such a new approach can already be seen creeping into the agendas of the various GOP candidates. Mitt Romney wants government to spend more money on basic scientific research. Mike Huckabee wants to create a prevention-based healthcare system. John McCain advocates a "wage insurance" program for workers. Fred Thompson wants to slash projected increases in Social Security payments. more >> .
