| Moses Lake casino in bankruptcy, owes $100,000 in taxes
MOSES LAKE, Wash. -- The gambling license of a restaurant and casino that owes about $100,000 in municipal taxes and filed for bankruptcy reorganization has been suspended. The Washington State Gambling Commission voted during a meeting Jan. 10-11 to lift the license of Cardroom Inc., doing business as the Porterhouse Restaurant, for 15 days after hearing that the business failed to pay local gambling taxes, disclose a lawsuit and report financial contributions by an owner, spokeswoman Susan I. Arland said. Ten days are for the three charges and five are for violating an earlier settlement. License holders are required to report criminal, administrative and civil proceedings, including bankruptcies and divorces, Arland said. Failure to disclose contributions is fairly common, but "having charges issued against you for failure to pay gambling taxes (is) very unusual," she said.
Pats need more motivation like Brady needs another dimple
Even that tidbit could turn out to be fortuitous, though, since so many people still seem interested in rubbing salt in what Belichick and the Patriots consider an old wound — the sideline spying scandal that erupted in Week 1 of the regular season. "I think there is a big question mark over it," Sen. Arlen Specter said Friday, threatening to hold congressional hearings into the nearly 5-month-old incident. "You've had a determination that they stole the signals. You know that. I don't think the fines amount to a whole lot. ... I don't think the penalties amount to much, frankly. .
Regional economies need to invest big in infrastructure - IDB - Moreno ...
Luis Alberto Moreno, president of the Inter-American Development Bank, says regional economies should double investment in infrastructure to boost economic growth. - File Regional economies have under-invested in infrastructure for years, limiting economic growth in the process, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Chief Luis Alberto Moreno has said. Now to catch up with boomers in Asia, Caribbean and Latin American governments have to at least double their spend, from the current 2 per cent of GDP. But countries of the region will also have to sustain that level of investment over a 20-year span to recover from decades of under-investment in infrastructure and perform at the level of South Korea and China, Moreno said in his year-end report to the IDB Board of Executive Directors.
Hip-Hop Rumors: Janet & Mariah: The Scoop! Juelz's Cut Weeds! Eddie ...
Dunno if you've seen the reports of Bishop Lamont saying that he believes Joell Got dropped, but what I have heard is that's a misunderstanding. Sure, there are people that get dropped from Aftermath. But Joell Ortiiz isn't one of them. From what I heard, he was really a bit tired of waiting and getting acclaim, but seeing no forward movement. Joell formally requested a release from Aftermath. I heard Dr. Dre really didn't want want to let him go, because he likes Joell. From what I hear, they both had a man-to-man conversation and they agreed to go their separate ways. I think it was a case where Interscope wants Detox and Em's next CD before anything and anybody. That means another year MINIMUM for anybody else barring a 50 Cent-type rapper. Joell didn't want to wait, I am hearing.
